Kent Edney, President
Mr. Edney is a Professional Petroleum Engineer with a diverse background in all aspects of oil and gas exploitation and development. Recent positions with Surge Energy, Breaker Energy and Thunder Energy involved managing capital budgets in excess of $50 million and 4500 boe/d. Mr. Edney has been involved in planning and executing projects from inception to sales point in all four provinces in the Western Canadian Basin. Mr. Edney is experienced in the application of horizontal drilling and multi-stage fracturing and has successfully implemented numerous secondary recovery schemes. Reserves evaluation, property evaluation and acquisition, capital budgeting and production forecasting are some of the many strengths Mr. Edney has developed during an active career in the junior oil and gas sector.
Scott David Badcock, Chief Financial Officer
Mr. Badcock, a Memorial University graduate in Commerce, is a Chartered Accountant with 10 years experience, including 5 years focused on the oil and gas industry. Prior to joining Nextraction, Mr. Badcock was employed by two of the world's largest professional service firms, Ernst & Young and Deloitte & Touche and brings to Nextraction his strong public market experience and a solid background towards financial reporting, corporate accounting, internal controls and corporate finance. Mr. Badcock has been involved in various mergers and acquisitions, public equity offerings and debt financings and will have oversight of the finance, accounting and treasury functions and will focus on financial reporting, investor relations and corporate governance for Nextraction.
William M. Pedersen, Vice President Exploration
Mr. Pedersen is a Geoscientist with over 29 years of oil and gas industry experience in western Canada, primarily in central and southern Alberta. Mr. Pedersen has a proven track record of increasing production and developing shareholder value for a number of junior oil and gas companies including Diamond Tree Resources, Titanium Oil & Gas, Dorset Energy and Cabre Exploration. Most recently Mr. Pedersen was President of Cowboy Exploration Ltd. and his addition to the Nextraction management team will be instrumental in developing the Cowboy asset base. Prospect generation, asset evaluation and management of geological operations are some of the many strengths Mr. Pedersen brings to Nextraction.
Steve Elekes, Consulting Landman
Mr. Elekes is a landman with over 15 years of progressive land experience in management, acquisitions and divestitures, negotiations, contracts and administration in western Canada. Mr. Elekes has been involved with various sized companies from start-ups to senior producers, including Twin Butte Energy, Trigger Resources, Rio Alto Exploration, Harvest Energy and Canadian Natural Resources. In addition to managing all aspects of Nextractions land department, Mr. Elekes will focus on asset and corporate acquisitions and divestitures for the Company.
Eric H. Carlson, Chairman of the Board, Director
Mr. Carlson has over 17 years of real estate investment, development, and management experience. Mr. Carlson has been President and Chief Executive Officer of Anthem Properties Corp. since July 1994. Anthem is an investment group that specializes in the acquisition and management of Class B retail, multi-family residential and office properties in high growth markets in Canada and the United States. Mr. Carlson is also a director of West Kirkland Mining Inc.; a director of Platinum Group Metals Ltd.; and a founder and director of MAG Silver Corp. He is an experienced financial advisor and a Chartered Accountant and received a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of British Columbia.
R. Michael Jones, Director
Michael Jones brings 25 years of experience as a professional geological engineer and has been involved with the raising of over $450 million for exploration, mining development and production. He was a founder of Glimmer Resources Inc. and was responsible for the discovery of the Glimmer Gold mine, now Blackfox, in Ontario. During a six-year tenure as President of Cathedral Gold Corp., Mr. Jones ran a producing mining company and was involved in the review of a feasibility study and financing for a $1 billion mining project during two years as Vice President with Aber Resources.
Mr. Jones is founder, President and Chief Executive Officer of Platinum Group Metals Ltd.; President and director of West Kirkland Mining Inc.; director and co-founder of MAG Silver Corp.; and founder and director of West Timmins Mining Inc. (now Lake Shore Gold Corp.) which was sold in 2009 for C$340MM in a share transaction. Mr. Jones has extensive capital markets experience for growth oriented companies. Companies he has co-founded have grown to over $800MM in value over the past six years. Mr. Jones has worked extensively with publicly listed companies and served on the Securities Policy Advisory Committee of the British Columbia Securities Commission for six years. Mr. Jones holds a Bachelor of Applied Science in Geological Engineering from the University of Toronto.
Frank Hallam, Director
Mr. Hallam is Chief Financial Officer and director of Platinum Group Metals Ltd.; Chief Financial Officer and director of West Kirkland Mining Inc; director and former Chief Financial Officer of Mag Silver Corp.; and current director and former Chief Financial Officer of West Timmins Mining Inc. (now Lake Shore Gold Corp.) Mr. Hallam was the key architect of the Western Bushveld Joint Venture between Platinum Group Metals Ltd. and Anglo Platinum Ltd. He was also the original founder of New Millennium Metals Corporation, a predecessor to Platinum Group Metals Ltd. From 1994 until 2002 he was a director and Chief Financial Officer of Tan Range Exploration Corporation, focused on gold exploration and development throughout East Africa working with groups such as JCI Limited, Barrick Gold Corporation and Newmont Mining Corporation. Mr. Hallam also has extensive experience in oil & gas exploration and development. He was previously an auditor with Coopers and Lybrand, specializing in their Mining Practice. He is a chartered accountant and has a degree in business administration from Simon Fraser University.
Paul B. Trost, Ph.D., Director
Dr. Trost has 35 years of oil and gas exploration, production and operating experience. For the past six years, Dr. Trost has been actively involved as part-owner and manager of a manufacturing company providing progressive removal systems for biogas. This company's clients include Fortune 500 companies and under Dr. Trost's management the company's revenues have grown from nil to $1.3 million over the last four years. Prior to this, Dr. Trost was President of Mtarri Inc. and a partner in Martin-Trost Associates, both private companies involved in exploration, development and production of minerals, oil and gas. He also co-founded an enhanced oil recovery company that specialized in tertiary oil recovery operations. Dr. Trost has served as Chief Geochemist for Nevada Minerals Company and other exploration companies and has consulted and managed a number of mining and oil and gas operations. He has completed extensive research on gas and mineral exploration and is published in the area. He is a past President of the American Petroleum Geochemical Explorationist, as well as a member of the American Association of Petroleum Geologists. Dr. Trost holds a Ph.D. in Geochemistry from Colorado School of Mines and a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry from Notre Dame University.
Mark S. Dolar, Director
Mr. Dolar has over 30 years experience in the North American oil and gas industry during which time he has developed extensive knowledge and expertise in the production and development of oil and gas properties. For the last 15 years, Mr. Dolar has been the managing partner of several private companies including Dolar Energy, L.L.C. Under Mr. Dolar's leadership, these companies were involved in a number of ventures to develop oil and gas properties in Montana, North Dakota, Nevada, Colorado, Utah and Wyoming, discovering 2.5 trillion cubic of gas in recoverable reserves. Mr. Dolar is well respected within the American oil and gas industry and in the past has served as Chairman of the Utah Petroleum Association and as Chapter President of the American Association of Professional Landmen. He received a Bachelor of Economics and Business Administration from Rocky Mountain College in Montana.
